About this location

Welcome to the Netharlands capital city, Amsterdam. Our newly upgraded EarthCam sits upon the historic roof of a canal house dating back to 1590, now operating as Hotel Nes. Take in gorgeous views of the Kloveniersburgwal Canal, stemming from the Amstel River. The name is derived from Aeme stelle, old Dutch for "area abounding with water". The river, along with the several connecting canals are a UNESCO World Heritage site. Also visible from this camera at the end of the bridge, is the edge of Rembrandsquare, which now serves as an area where people gather for entertainment. On the opposite side of the canal, the mint colored spire is the Munttoren Belltower, built in the 17th Century was a tower used to mint coins. The tower consists of 38 bells and chimes every 15 minutes.
